WorldWideWiki:General disclaimer

From the World Wide Wiki

"Tonight I don't care

If we win a million hearts,
Unless we rip them out their chest
and start throwing them at cars."

Views and opinions

The information and views presented on this website represent the views and opinions of myself. They are based on my experience in life and the information I've gained during this time. I am in no way a representative of any other organization or group, nor do the views and opinions expressed on this site necessarily represent those of any school, company, organization or other group or individual with whom I am associated.

I generally try to follow a policy of frank honesty with a strong sense of common decency. I don't generally hesitate to say what's on my mind, but I will generally try to do so as inoffensively as possible. I'm certainly not in the habit of saying things just to shock or offend, but I also believe that some things need to be said, even at the cost of offending some people.

If you believe that something I've placed on this site is genuinely offensive (especially needlessly offensive), don't hesitate to talk to me about it at Project:Discussion/Offensive content. I'll generally be more than happy to discuss things civilly, and if you can convince me that I've made a mistake or acted inappropriately, I won't hesitate to admit my mistake and take actions to correct it.

Content

I make no promises as to the appropriateness of the content on this website for any particular audience.

Downloads

There may be occasions where information or materials are available for downloading from this site including, but not neccessarily limited to: images, executable software, computer code, schematics, mechanical drawings, and documentation. Please be aware that it is unlikely but possible for any downloaded materials to conflict with your computer and therfore cause problems on any computer system which could result in loss of data or complete system failure, permanent or otherwise. I'll do my best to provide safe and high quality downloads, but in the end, download at your own risk.

Don't try this at home

DO NOT MESS AROUND WITH STUFF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND. If you acquire plans for a 40 kilovolt Tesla Coil and you aren't an expert electrical engineer with a complete understanding of all the components of the plan and the theory behind it, DON'T TRY TO BUILD IT! All the information presented on this site is informational. I'll do my best to provide the accurate information, but I can't make any garauntees that application of this information will be safe or successful. What you do with the information here, and the consequences of what you do with is, is your responsibility, not mine. This includes, but is not limited to: injury to self or others, death, damage to property, legal consequences. Always be aware of all safety concerns and do not attempt to mess around with forces you don't fully understand (particularly electricity, fire, chemistry, and ballistics). Also be aware of legal issues in your area. Different places have different laws and just because something I do where I live is legal, doesn't mean it will be legal where you live. For that matter, just because something is on this website, doesn't mean that it's legal to do where I live, where you live, or anywhere. Once again, legal consequences of your actions with regards to information presented on this site are yours and yours alone.

Where credit's due

By the same token, except where otherwise specified, I have no claim to any benefits you receive as a result of the information you gain from this site. If information on this site leads you to a discovery, invention, or other marketable good or service, I have no legal or ethical right to demand any kind of fee or royalty for it, unless otherwise indicated. However, anything taken directly from this site (including but not limited to images, computer code, and schematics) cannot be distributed or marketed as the original work or as the property of anyone besides myself, except where otherwise specified (see also #Licensing and Copyrights).

Licensing and Copyrights

Unless specifically stated otherwise, you're free to use and distribute anything on this site as long as my name and any original copyrights or licensing information remains in tact, and only for non-commerical purposes (i.e., you don't make any money off of it). If you are interested in using any original work on this site for commerical or financial reasons, please contact me about it.

Confusing contradictions?

No, the last two sections don't contradict each other. Let me explain a little more clearly. You can't just take stuff from this website and pass it off as your own. But you can use the things you learn from this website however you see fit (minding #Don't try this at home). For example, if I post some computer code here, you can't just take the code and sell it as your own product (nor can you turn it in as an assignment), but you can use it as a learning aid and reference so that you can understand the concepts better, and then write your own code based on your new understanding of the materials, and sell that as your own. I admit there's a bit of a gray area there, so if you're ever in doubt, don't hesitate to contact me.
